39. Nanda Jatakaya

In those days, the Blessed One was staying in Jetavana in Sawat. At that time, a certain young man was ordained by our Sariputta. This monk is very obedient. Listening to what is being said. Sariputta attends to the great arahant with great effort. He helps in his affairs. So Sariputta was also impressed with this student monk.

On one occasion, our Dharma Senadhipathi took permission from the Blessed One and went on a tour of the Dakkhinagiri Colony. That monk also joined the journey. From the day of that journey, that monk changed. He took it to heart with great pride. Not a single word of Sariputta is obeyed. If you say 'of course... to do this', you will do the opposite. Sariputta did not understand the mental nature of that monk. However, after the trip is over, Jetavana is too old.

As soon as that monk came to Jetavana, Harima obeyed again. Humble. deposited Sariputta mentioned this matter to the Blessed One. "Blessed Lords, I have one of my students name. Very obedient like a hired slave while in Jetavana. But when he goes to another place, he is very arrogant and has a strict attitude. Doing the opposite of what is said"

"Sariputta, that monk is not alone now. The previous self is the same. Being in one place is like a bought slave. When you go to another place, it is completely different. "Like an opponent," said this native.

"Sariputta, once upon a time there was a king named Brahmadatta who ruled in Benares. At that time, bodhisattvas were born in a certain family. Bodhisattvas had a certain friend. He is old. But his wife is young. These two had one son. One day that friend thought like this.

My wife is still young. When I am dead, it is not possible to have another marriage. If that happens, my wealth will be destroyed. My son will not get one. That's why I want to treasure this wealth," he said to his slave called Nanda. He also went to the forest. His wealth was hoarded in some secret place. Nanda touched the slave's head and spoke lovingly.

“Daruva Nanda… I treasured this wealth for my son. I want to tell my son about this place when I am gone. "Don't give up on this duty," he vowed.

He died shortly after. His son gradually became a young man. One day his mother said to her son: “Son… your father took our Nanda Dasa and treasured a fortune in Gohin Forest. Now it's time to take it and work for improvement"

Then one day he said to Nanda dasa. "Uncle... there is wealth that our father deposited for me, isn't there?"

"That's right, Lord..." "Where is that wealth stored?"

"Swami of the forest" said, "So let's take the hoe and go there" and went to a certain place in the middle of the forest. "Uncle... where is that object?" Then Nanda Dasaya stood where the wealth was deposited. He started saying this.

"She... Nidakin dasa boys…. Where is the stock item here? Ada…. You know... You are just a fool..." and started insulting that prince. Then the prince was not worried. As if he didn't hear, he said "Then let's go" and went home. When he went home, the slave was very obedient again. Went there for two or three days. Nanda Dasaya changes every time he goes. He starts insulting a lot. The prince cannot imagine what is happening. Finally the prince thought this. “Our father has a friend . He also has to go and say this " and went to meet the Bodhisattvas. He went and told everything that happened. "Oh Father... Why did this happen?"

This stanza said, "Son... that slave of Nanda is standing somewhere and insulting you, Nichchi himself has the treasure there."

"Pearls, Ranmalas and many treasures are there

Standing on it, Nanda does not remember who he is

That's why he spreads his roar there."

So the prince worshiped the Bodhisattvas and went home. Again Nanda went to the forest with the slave. As usual, he stood there and started insulting. The prince was not silent that day. "She... Embala slave... who are you to insult me? Know how you are doing" and pulled him away. The treasure was dug up with a spade. On the same day, Nanda Dasaya was fired from his job. On the advice of the Bodhisattvas, the prince prospered a lot. Danadi did penance.

“Sariputta…. How are you this season? Even then, this monk has the same nature. Nanda Dasaya was ordained as your student today. "I am the wise householder who advised the prince that day," said this native.
