14. Vatamiga Jatakaya

When our Blessed One was reigning in Rajagahanura, there was a prince named Tissa in a very rich family. He also often went to Veluvanarama to listen to sermons. He also had a strong desire to overcome the suffering of the world. He decided to leave the lay life and become a monk. I asked my father for permission. But Situwala did not like his only son to be ordained. They strongly opposed the idea. Then prince Tissa also lay on the ground fasting for a week like prince Rattapala. Finally, in order to save the child's life, my father gave permission for the priesthood.

Prince Tissa was ordained with great faith. As the Blessed One grew in his journey, this monk also grew along with it. More than Savat Kandy respectively. This monk received the gift only through pindapata. All dhutangs were celebrated. He became known everywhere as a full moon in the sky under the name 'Chulla Pindapatika Tissa Theru'. Many novice monks wanted to be like this Chulla Pindapatika Tissa Theru.

At that time, a certain auspicious ceremony was held in Rajagahanuvara. On that auspicious day, Tissa Therun's parents went to the silver casket in which the prince's jewels were kept. The jewelry was taken out. They started crying.

“Hane…. Come on…. In the past, when the other princes went to play with good fortune, our son prince also wore these and dressed up like a prince, didn't he? Alas, Shramana Gautamayan went to Savat city after having our only son sewed. Come on…. No information... I don't know where you are….. Honey… Good morning for our Situ family!”

At that time, a Vaishya woman who was friendly with them went to that house. He saw the Situ family crying and asked this.

“Oh… Situdevi…. Why this... Why is this voice crying after taking out a lot of jewelry?"

"Oh my daughter... You know so... Our Tissa prince was sewn up. The entire city was gone. No information... Hmm…. What happened to us yesterday"

“And… uh…. Situdevi…. Prince Tissa seems to love him very much."

“Daughter…. What can we do without loving our only son! This great wealth is for him!”

"Situ Devi, if I bring back your only son Ratnaya, would you like to entrust me with all the affairs of this house?"

"Oh my daughter... What are you asking? If so, all this property is yours. You will be my son's wife."

He also got wealth from the house to pay for the expenses to seduce his son. Entourage was also received. They left Savat city secretly. Dhutangadhari Chulla Pindapatika Tissa Therun Pidusinga discovered Vadina Mawatha. Rented a house. The servants from the situ house always made sure that Therun was out of sight. Delicious food and drinks were prepared and offered. This magical woman gradually became a foster mother of Chulla Pindapathika Tissa Therun. Now Tissa Theru is so friendly with this Daika that now she invited Tissa Theru to come to her house and bury her. Greedy for the taste, without consciousness, he now goes to that house and buries his gifts. Giving charity beautifully.

One day the Lord arrived at that house. The servants came and bowed down to Theru and took the bowl. Therun was made to work at home.

"Pinvatani... where is our worshiper?"

“Oh Lord…. She is sick. She is eagerly waiting to receive your blessings. Have mercy on her and visit her house, Lord.

Then Tissa Therun forgot that he was a monk who had been performing dhuthanga for a long time. Due to her greed, she broke her dhuthanga and broke her dream and entered the sleeping room. As soon as he entered the chamber, that disguise seduced Therun. Sivru turned. He considered the fact that he had come. He was taken in a chariot and went to Rajagahanuwara with a large entourage. Drowned in the swamp of lust.

The monks gathered in the Damsabha Mandapa started chatting about this sad fate of Tissa Therun.

"Of course, it was a wonderful thing that didn't happen... Mahadhutangdhari was there. Always concerned about discipline. But he did not see that his mind was changing and he was moving away from the Dharma. A masked man was deceived at one time.

The Blessed One got to know this.

"Monks, that monk was bound to the lust of taste and went under the spell of others, not only in this spirit. Having been caught by the lust of the previous soul, that woman went under the seduction of herself."

Then those monks asked the Blessed One to tell the story of the past. The Blessed One said this Vatamiga Jataka.

"Monks, long ago there was a gardener named Sanjay for King Brahmadatta in Varanasi. This gardener took care of the royal garden. A certain deer comes to that garden. A deer called 'Vatamiga' runs as fast as the wind. This deer disappears as soon as the gardener sees it. Then Sanjay pretended not to notice. A deer named Watamiga also used to come to the garden again and again. Sanjay Uyanpalla brings various flowers and fruits from the garden to the palace every day. One day the king called the gardener.

"And... Sanjay... how about the information in the garden? Is there anything special?”

“Gods, there is nothing special. But a special kind of deer called 'Vatamiga' comes to the garden. I'm getting used to it now. He won't run away as soon as he sees me."

"Can't we catch that deer?"

"I think, Lord God, if I get some honey, I will be able to bring that wonderful deer to the palace."

Sanjay received honey from the king. That day, Sanjay went to the garden and smeared some honey on the grass where the deer were walking. The deer came as usual. ate grass Bewitched by the taste. They come directly to the garden without going to other places. Realizing that Sanjay was thoroughly enchanted by the sweet taste of honey, the gardener gradually made himself visible.

A few days passed. The deer was now very confident about the gardener. Now the deer came and started eating grass from the hand of the gardener. Confidence increased that much. Then Sanjay Uyanpalla informed the King of these details. One day, the road from the garden to Rajamadura was surrounded by kalalas on both sides. Leaves were put in places. Made the garden look like it belonged. Sanjay Uyanpalla filled a labu cube with honey. A bundle of new grass was kept in Kisilla. The honey-stained grass began to be placed in front of the deer. The deer entered the palace without knowing it. Suddenly the doors closed. The deer raised its head and looked around. People everywhere. There was a real fear of death. He started running around the courtyard inside the palace with great excitement.

From the palace, the king watched the deer run away in fear. There was great compassion. The king said:

"Look, friends, you are a Vatamiga deer. If he sees a man in a certain place, he will not even go to that area for seven days. If you are threatened in a certain place, you will not go that way for the rest of your life. This deer is such a solitary animal. But look. He did not come to this place because of greed for taste. Oh! The lust of the world is indeed a lame thing!” The said king said this stanza.

"About the door of the house about friends - if there is some love

There is something more pure than that - the obsession with what to eat and drink

Even a deer that was secretly seduced – Sanjay was not seduced by taste”

Monks, now that vesagana was able to seduce Tissa Theru because the mind was recruited by the craving for taste. That woman did the same thing before. At that time Sanjay was a gardener in this disguise. Chulla Pindapatika Tissayan was in the air. I was the king of Benares.”
