11. Lakkhanamiga Jatakaya

Due to the appearance of our Blessed Lord, a lot of luck came to the Shakya family. Many famous Sakya princes began to become monks with the Blessed One. Then it was said that either Mahanama Sakya or Anuruddha Sakya should become a monk. Finally Prince Anuruddha decided to become a monk. When asking permission from his mother, Anuruddha said to the prince:

app.leonardo.ai

“Putanda, what are you sewing? Then Bhaddia...! He reigns in the Shakya kingdom. He has no intention of becoming a monk... Not like that... If King Bhaddiya Sakya is ordained, I will allow you to become a monk too."

Then Prince Anuruddha went to see King Bhaddiya Sakya. He went and said this. “Oh… my friend…. help me My glory is in your hands!”

“So friend…. Whether your ordination is in my hand or not, you may go and be ordained with me."

So these six Sakyas, King Bhaddiya, Prince Anuruddha, Prince Ananda, Prince Bhagu, Prince Kimbila, and Devadatta, along with the Karanavamiya (Barber) named Upali, went and ordained.

Bhaddia Theranu, Bhagu Theranu, and Kimbila Theranu were also affected. Anuruddha Theranu was the foremost of the devotees. Ananda attained the Sovan fruit. Devadatta became a meditator and gave birth to Irdhibala. This incident took place when our Blessed One was staying in Niyamgama, the Anupiya of the Mallas. So the Blessed One accompanied the Sangha of disciples on the journey. Respectively greater than Kosambi. Lived in Ghoshitharama. Devadatta also joined that trip. He also lived in Ghoshitharama. One day Devadatta thought like this.

"Okay... I also want to have a prominent character now. I also want to do a solo performance. You want to become famous as a single character. Then many people will admire me. Many profits will be born. Who should I explain to this thread first? OK…. Ajasat is the crown prince. He is still young. King of the future. If you explain the impurity, then it will be right!" thought that

So Devadatta made a plan from Ghoshitharama and left for Rajagaha. Did a wonderful job using the force. He pretended to be a beautiful little prince. Snakes were imagined around the head, around the waist, around the arms. At that time Prince Ajasat was sitting alone. Suddenly he appeared on his lap. Ajasat was also very scared. Eyes widened. Screamed and jumped up. Then Devadatta asked:

“Haha… and…. Prince... You seem afraid of me….!”

"Ah... Oh... Really... I'm afraid of you... Who are you really?" He asked bowing in fear.

“Prince…. I am Devadatta”

“Oh…. Lord…. If you are our Arya Devadattayan, may you appear in your own form!”

Then the boy disappeared. Devadatta appeared in a saintly posture with a bowl covered with sivru and two sivru. Prince Ajasat prostrated himself there. Embraced and kissed Devadatta's feet.

It's okay now. Prince Ajasat was very impressed. Prince Ajasat, accompanied by the army, goes to worship the gods with five hundred alms of rice.

Then Devdat thought like this. ok now…. I am the one who is fit to rule the Sangha. "I want to be a monk."

Dear, dear child, merit is a wonderful thing. Virtue never combines with evil. It seems that light will never merge with darkness. That kind of Devadatta only thought of taking control of the Sangha and becoming a Sangharaja, but as soon as the evil thought arose, he lost his meditation. Irdhibala was lost.

At that time, Koliya Rajaputra, who was an attendant of our Mahamoggallana, had died as a worshiper of Kakudha. Born in heaven with a mental body, he saw what happened to the gods. Seeing this, he appeared before Maha Moggallana and considered this news.

Mahamoggallana is older than the Blessed One. After visiting the Blessed One and worshiping the Blessed One with love, Kakudha considered the matter told to him by the Divine Son.

"Moggallanas, have you checked your thoughts about Devadatta's heart to see if what that Kakudha divine son said about Devadatta is true?"

"That's right, Lord, what the divine son of Kakudha said is true. I knew Devadatta's heart through my own mind."

Moggallans…. Don't tell anyone about that. If that happens, that empty man will attack you by saying that he did not even think of such a thing. You keep quiet. That empty man will reveal himself.”

Then our Blessed One, accompanied by the Sangha, began the journey again. Rajagahanuwara is more than the first in the journey respectively. Rajagahanuwara lived in Veluvana.

One day, the Blessed One was sitting in the middle of a large group of people including King Bimsara, looking at Dhamma in Veluvana. That day, Devadatta was also sitting in the middle of the Sangha listening to the sermon. Suddenly he stood up from the crowd. He showed great respect and bowed down. It was said like this.

“Oh…. Blessed Lord, I am deeply moved. The Blessed One is working hard to use this Sangha. Besides, the Blessed One is now quite weak. old Elderly. Now is the time for the Blessed One to live in seclusion without trying on these external works. May the Bhikkhu Sangha be handed over to me. I will rule for the betterment of the Bhikshu Sangha.”

“Devadata…. Give up that idea. Do not like the idea of controlling the Sangha!”

When the Blessed One said this, Devadatta asked for the rule of the Sangha three times. Then the Blessed One said:

"Devadatta, I will not hand over the control of the Sangha even to Sariputta Moggallana. Shall I entrust the Sangha to someone like you who lives a mythical life?”

Then Devadatta worshiped the Blessed One. Left quietly. I thought like this.

“Haha… see!…. In the middle of the group of kings, they said that I live a mythical life. Sariputta placed the Moggallanas on top…. Haha…. Well... I will take care... Let's see who will win.

Dear, dear children, there is no one in the world who knows more than the Blessed One about what a bad man does when he hates him. Before Devadatta created any crisis and caused destruction, the Blessed One addressed the monks and said.

"Monks, the Sangha should make a public statement about Devadatta at Rajagahanuvara. 'Earlier, Devadatta had a different situation. Now there is a different situation. Therefore, a public statement must be made that whatever Devadatta says or does, it does not represent the Buddha or the Buddha's Dhamma or the Sangha of disciples.

Then the Blessed One addressed Sariputta.

Then, Sariputta, you must go to Rajagahanuvara and make a public statement about Devadatta.

"Lord, blessed ones, I have not praised Devadatta as a great scholar and a great monk in Rajagahanuvara. So how can I make a public statement about Devadatta ?

"Okay Sariputta... That day you said something real about Devadatta, didn't you?"

"That's right, Lord"

"Also, Sariputta, tell me about the truth about Devadatta."

So Sariputta the Great Arhat accompanied many monks and went to Rajagahanuwara. Declared the nature of Devadatta in public. Then the people who were impressed by Devadatta started saying this.

"Yasai wade... How clever is Devadatta…. What a meritorious person... It is not because of His merit that such cheap praises are received. So why are these other monks jealous of that?

The people who recognized the Trinity and understood it said:

“Okay…. OK…. There must be something serious about this. That is why the Blessed One made such a public statement about Devadatta. Therefore, whatever Devadatta says or does, we must consider from today that it does not represent our Blessed One or the Dharma or the Sangha."

The gods had already led the wicked astray. He also vowed to kill the Buddha and become Sangharaja. Many attempts were made to destroy the life of our Blessed One by doing many tricks. The people were displeased with Devadatta who was constantly trying to destroy the Buddhas with deep hatred. Gone are the benefits. He lost someone to give him some alms. Then Devadatta along with his disciples used to go from house to house asking for alms saying that the Blessed One had made him very destitute. In the end, Devadatta decided to make Sanghabheda. He also used the monks Kokalika, Katamoraka Tissa, Khandadevi Putra and Samudradatta who were loyal to him. Five principles were formulated to enlighten the common people and novice monks who do not know the religion.

1. Monks should live in the forest for as long as they live. If he came to live in the village, he would have made a mistake.

2. As long as the monks live, they should live on the alms received from the Pindapatha. If he accepted an invitation, he would have made a mistake.

3. As long as the monks are still alive, they should perform the sivru made of earthen cloth. He would have committed a mistake if he accepted a sivrak offered by laymen.

4. Monks should throw themselves in the shade of trees until they are alive. If he lands on a roofed area, he will have made a mistake.

5. Monks should abstain from meat and fish as long as they live. If one eats fish, he has committed a sin.

So Devadatta requested the Blessed One that these five principles are very close to Nirvana and approve them for the sake of the monks. The Blessed One rejected all five of these requests. What he thought was right. Now Devadatta is very happy. He also made a public statement in Rajagahanuwara.

“Venerable, we went to meet Sramana Gautama. He requested to impose these very valuable and great virtues on the Sangha. Look, dear ones, these noble five principles that lead to austerity and perseverance have not been rejected. But it is our intention to walk steadily on this Nirvana path. We decided to revive the old Sasun program which was very frugal. Accordingly, we are rallying to follow these policies resolutely."

Stupid people were impressed. Devdat started helping. The devotees who recognized the Buddha's teachings were more upset with the gods. "Happe... This time Devadatta is not going to stop the Sanghabheda, but this detour is going to end," he blamed.

Meanwhile, there were five hundred newly ordained monks with our Sariputta Maharahat. God also managed to mislead those novice monks. That group was made to believe that with the help of the gods, they can cross the world. Devdat also committed the terrible sin of Sanghabheda. He took the group of five hundred monks and went to the summit.

Then the Blessed One addressed Sariputta-Moggallana arahants and said.

"Sariputta, shouldn't you have kindness towards those novice monks? O Sariputta, go there before those bhikkhus perish.”

So the Sariputta-Moggallana arahants paid obeisance to the Blessed One and left for Shirsha. A certain bhikkhu started to cry when he saw that the scythes were hitting Gaya's head. Then the Blessed One addressed that monk.

"Monk, why are you crying?"

“Oh… Lord…. Aren't our Sariputta Moggallana scion priests also singing with love to Devadatta's religion?

“No, monk…. It never happens. Both of them are meant to remind the monks who have gone before.

So that day, Devadatta was preaching the Dharma accompanied by a large crowd. Sariputta saw the Moggallanas walking from afar. Seeing and saying this.

"Monks, see how well I have spoken the Dhamma. Look at the wonderful pair of agrasravakas of Sramana Gautama here. It can be seen from the way that both of them agreed that what I am saying is right!"

That day Devdat also prayed late into the night. Those monks and the gods were listening to the sermons of an evil man with the sincere intention of dispelling evils and increasing merits. Then Devadatta addressed our Sariputta.

"Emba Sariputta, now these monks have been enjoying my Dhamma for a long time and are getting great comfort. My back hurts a little. So I will digress for a moment. "Tell these monks the Dhamma," said Devadatta, leaning on the right side. Devadatta, who was very tired and delirious, fell asleep in no time.

Then Sariputta spoke the pure Sri Saddharma very beautifully. Maha Moggallana showed the meaning of dharma through Irdhi miracles. Those five hundred monks who listened to the teachings of the good men attained the fruit of Sovan.

So Sariputta said:

"Indeed, we now pray to the Blessed One. Those who like the Dharma spoken by the Blessed One can come with us."

So those five hundred monks left for Veluvana along with our Dagasavanu. The other monks were very happy that Sariputta came with those five hundred monks. Reassured. Lord Buddha also spoke about this with great admiration.

"Lord... Isn't it very beautiful when our Lord Dharmasena is growing with those five hundred monks. Harima is sobhamana… Devadatta has deteriorated further”

"Mr.... No, Sariputta with his entourage shined in a previous spirit. Devadatta also lost that soul."

Then the monks asked the Blessed One to tell them about that incident which had been hidden in the past. At that time our Blessed One said this Lakkhanamiga Jataka.

"Monks, once upon a time there lived a king in the kingdom of Magadha. At that time, Bodhisattvas were born in mouth vagina. He lived in the great forest accompanied by a thousand deer. So that deer king had two sons named Lakkhana and Kala. When this Bosat Deer was old, he spoke to his two Deer sons.

“My child, I am old now. The use of this group of deer is up to you." Five hundred were divided into two parts and handed over to the two sons. From then on, those two started disciplining the crowd.

In those days in the country of Magadha, one had to work hard to maintain the fields during the harvest season. The field is troubled by deer coming from the forest. At that time, traps were set in places to kill the deer that came to Goyam Kan. Pits were dug. Sharp spikes were planted inside those pits. Many tricks were used to destroy the deer.

The bodhisattvas, who knew about the misfortunes that befall the deer while guarding the fields, called their two deer sons and said: "Daruveni, I don't know. This is the time of guarding the fields. Our deer are dying at this time. We are old now. Somehow, old man, I'll be careful. You run away to the forest with that group of deer. After living under the mountain range and cutting the fields again

Then the two deer heard the words of father deer and left with the group. People are well aware of the path of the deer. At this time, the deer climb the mountain. It is well known that at this time of the year, they hit the village from the forest. So those people were hiding in places. Many deer were killed.

The deer named Kala had no idea about this. That deer goes through the village road in the morning, in the evening, in the evening and in the early morning. People are always hiding at that time. So many deer died because of that deer's stupidity. Only a few could go to the forest.

Lakkhana Muwa is not like that. That deer is smart. Understand the facts well. There is wisdom in place. It is well understood when to go and not to go. That is why the Lakkhana deer does not go on the village road. The afternoon does not even go. Gomman does not go in the half dark at the time. The morning will not go. It's going to be midnight. Since they went at the right time , they were able to go together without any harm to a single deer. When the time of trouble was over, they were able to come back to their parents with the five hundred muvarela. Kaala Muwa came alone after destroying all herds. Seeing this, Bosat Mua said:

“The one who can understand and act correctly

Lakkhana muva putu does not want to come, accompanied by Samgina

Look carefully and know what to take to heart

I don't know how the deer will come.

"Monks, our sariputtas are still beautifying the Buddha by using their relatives in the Dhamma. In the past, the deer also brought good to the family and beautified the deer. Devadatta became degenerate with this spirit too. It deteriorated even then. Devadatta was the deer of time. Vanasuneth is the same group as Devadatta. Our Sariputtas were disguised as Lakkhana. His people were the Buddha's people. Rahul Mata was the mother deer. Wasn't I the father?"
